A couple days ago my husband told me he couldn't mow the yard for a few weeks. I thought that he just wanted to play golf and forget about mowing our overgrown yard which is relatively small.

The yard still needs mowing but we are going to be foster parents soon.
Leolinda~ Looks like a good excuse to me to NOT mow the yard, LOL! Looks like lots of babies are going to be born!
Leolinda...
How cool ... soon you'll have lots of little quail chicks!
I think he couldn't have found a better excuse!
They will leave in the middle of the night and you will be lucky to ever see them once hatched-- this is written by someone who was so careful and patient and did not disturb anything around the eggs - and they left , destroying the plants around them in the middle of the night when they hatched. Perhaps you will be luckier.
Tweet Tweet sounds like a twitter moment
Good Luck in 2009
Karina.
That is so neat. I wish I had a good excuse not to cut the grass. I need to get some quail.
Hi Leolinda, what a wonderful reason to not mow! We used to have two Quail families come into our yard to our feeder stations picking up seeds from the ground. If it's safe, you may start now and with a little luck you'll see the little ones lead by their parents. They are too cute, like colored cottonballs on legs!
Beautiful eggs! Wow!
Your husband lucked out having the Quail eggs under the mower. That's a good excuse from having to do the lawn.
Vicky, I sure can't wait to see them.
Richard, I love watching them follow their parents.
Tina, me too!
Bob & Carolyn, I'll be sure to update you.
Karina, I like that, a twitter of a moment.
Russ, he plays golf 6 days a week.
Patricia, these eggs look better than easter eggs. :)
Robert, it's an excellent excuse to get an earlier tee time.
I think it's a worthy enough reason to have an overgrown lawn for a few weeks :)
Rochelle, I totally agree!
HA! You sure he didn't put them there? If they don't hatch, you better check. Maybe they are those marble eggs, LOL. I love it!
Andrea, the eggs are real. Check out the hen sitting under the lawn mower. I tried to get her with my telescopic lens but she flew away when I got closer, that's how I got to take a picture of the eggs. She is still sitting there.
Leolinda, the yard will always be there so it can wait.
I may have to use this trick myself - - so, what kind of eggs take the longest to hatch? :-)
Mike, Good question. Let me know when you find out.
WOW that is really neat at least he had a good excuse for nt getting the job done.
Have a wonderful Thursday,
Kim White
Kim, this is an excellent excuse not to mow.
Leolinda......we've had the same situation at our house as well (we live in Moon Valley by the preserve) It is so fun watching the babies grow up. The quail babies are so cute!!
I also had tiny wrens nesting in a fake plant in under a patio alcove area. We watched the little ones until their parents encouraged them to leave and they 'had the courage' to fly from the nest down to the floor. One little guy must have sat on the edge of the patio for over 5 hours until he finally moved to a bush.
Even cooler...........they were back for 3 years in a row!
PS Nice to see another AZ agent on the rain!
Anna, it puts a smile on my face just by watching baby quail as they travel up and down the street. They are such a darling sight. I can't wait until they hatch and start walking around the yard.
It's been great to meet other Arizona agents on AR. Now you need to join Arizona Blogging Network. Check it out.
