Apparently someone is quite impressed with themselves when they get a bath, Leolinda. It looks like your bird is strutting his stuff.
I put them in their cage, spray them with water and they love it!
Leolinda - I LOVED this. We used to have a blue fronted Amazon named Hanzie. We had had him for years, (like 10 or 15) and my husband used to live with him on a sailboat in Hawaii (where he proceeded to chew up the boat!) He said "Hello" and made the sounds of the boat ropes stretching with the rising tides. His nighttime perch was over our bed, and we felt like we were sleeping on the boat still.
When my hub married me, Hanzie was jealous, but we became pals eventually. When we got a dog, not such good pals, but the dog knew to stay away, and run if he heard flapping wings. THEN we had our daughter.
Hanzie was so jealous. We were afraid he would attack her. So we found a breeder who was looking for a mate for a travelling school bird who had gotten a little cantankerous. We set Hanzie's cage next to Ping and waited. "Hello" said Ping. "Hello" said Hanzie.
They are still together.
Thanks for the memories.
Sally, when I first purchased Mango he would always say WTF. After a couple of years, he finally stopped. Now he barks like my dog, says good morning, and always says hi. Jilian does not talk and loves to ride on her swing all day long.
Leolinda, love that bird dancing and singing in the rain taking a bath! @Sally, that is one complicated love story! :) :) !!
I used to see this even with my cockatiels. It takes so little to make their day!
Lourdes, my birds love singing and hanging upside down when taking their bath.
Bob, birds are fun! They are friendly and loving.
What a great way to cool off and get clean. The birds look like they are having a great time.
June, they have a really bad attitude if I miss their bath.
Hi, Good post. Thanks for sharing.
Best - Sash
Leolinda - great photos and they look like they are having a great time. What kind of birds are they?
Too funny thanks for sharing your bird bath with us, I love the photos, does the bird talk?
Sahsa, thanks for stopping by.
Sharon, good question.
Caron, yes, they talk up a storm. Mango just rattles on as soon as I get on the phone. Call me sometime early in the morning or in the evening, you'll be sure to hear him.
What a happy looking little guy
bet he makes some noise too?
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Leolinda - the pictures don't show their faces very well, but they look like Blue-Fronted Amazons to me.... just like our Hanzie. although their eyes appear to be redder. Do you have a better picture where you can see their faces, without being in an aqueous free-for-all?
Charles, absolutely!
Sally, I took this picture the day after Mango and Jilian got into a fight.
Mango pulled Jilian's neck feathers and Jilian bit Mango. Just like kids, I had to separate them for a couple of days.
What fun pics! Never thought about "bath by hose" for a bird before!
Debi
Leo, I never new you were a bird-brain.
Leolinda,
Fun pictures! It does look like everyone was having a fun time.
Debi, I've tried them in the shower but it seems as though they like their cage bath better.
Jim, call me sometime in the evening, you will hear the ruckus that they make. They absolutely hate when I talk on the phone.
Jackie, they really have fun. By the way, I love your friendly smile.
what a pretty little guy...makes me go, "Aweee..."
Xinh, I was sitting in my office this morning and he said, "I love you". What a sweetie!
