I live and work in the West Valley adult (45+) community of Sun City Grand. There are just a few homes in Sun City Grand with walled backyards that do not require a monthly maintenance fee. I live in such an area. I built my home in this location instead of on the golf course because I like the privacy. I guess it‘s also a cultural thing, being that I am from Hawaii and most of the homes in Hawaii have walls or fences. My husband started raising koi prior to moving to Sun City Grand. Unfortunately all of the koi died during the transfer to the new pond. He has since obtained new hatchlings and in four years they have all grown to over 20 inches in length. Each morning I take my cup of coffee outside and feed Lucy, Charo, Prada (named because of his price) and Brad. Lucy is just a good ole gal, just likes to eat and roam around feeding off the bottom. Charo loves to dance and flip her tail slapping the water to get attention. Prada meanders through the pond, like a king - El Hefe! The other koi follow him around and copy his movement pattern. Brad, well Brad just tries to chase Lucy and Charo - we named him Brad because we think he is a male. All four koi come to the surface as they see my shadow knowing that it is feeding time. What a Grand way to start my day! It's all about people, being honest, having integrity and product knowledge.
Sun City Grand .....I live here, I work here, I know this community!

Life is like a bowl of chocolate...
great blog nice job have a great holiday
Thank you Andrew. I wish you the best holiday ever!
Ahhhh must be nice.... Very nice Koi by the way!
I would say this is a pretty good Positive Message :) I can visualize walking outside with my coffee, and watching the Koi...what a great start to a day. Thanks for sharing this in the Positive Attitudes for the Weary Soul Group :)
Kathy, Thank you for the encouragement. Come and visit anytime - my casita awaits you.
What a lovely way to start your day! Wow, and what great photos. Thanks for sharing.
I totally agree that it all starts at home...we can't wake up cranky, yell at the kids and then expect to meet with sellers who will be reasonable, right?
Great insight!

That sounds like a great start to your day. It is freezing here so I will just stay content with petting my dogs and taking my kids to school with coffee in the a.m.!
Tamara, I can relate. Thank goodness my children are grown. I appreciate you complementing me on my photos.
Brandon, the best places to live during the winter is in Arizona or Hawaii. Having a loving family and pets is just paradise!
Leolinda, you have created a tropical paradise right in your very own back-yard.
At first, I thought: This is what I want for Christmas! Then I remembered all the fish that died in my care - the sucker fish (the algae eater) is the only one that survived me, and I decided NOT to ask Santa for any such thing. Out of respect for living creatures I will not chance it again!
I love the idea of savoring your mornings! You are a true Optimist! Being in the moment and noticing life's enchanting details. Bravo Leolinda!
My dad built a beautiful pond in their yard in Tucson. He also had Koi. They were like pets! They would swim into your hand, kiss your fingers. That is definitely a great way to start the day.
Doreen, is there such a thing as a smart fish? If so, I would say koi are beautifully smart.
Leolinda: I want to spread your message of enjoying the moments, so I've made this a featured post on the Optimist Board. Congratulations!
Mirela, We all need space to think without the hustle and bustle of the day. I especially like my quiet time in the morning since it gets myself time to get my brain up body working in synchronization with each other.
I appreciate your kindness in reccommending my post a featured one.
My mom has a big Koi pond Leolinda! Sometime soon we have to sell her house and get her into something she can manage. I dread moving that Koi pond!
Tami, I would suggest enlisting your local koi club to help with moving the fish. The new pond should be stabilized prior to moving the fish so that the koi does not spawn. That's how we lost 11 koi.
If you decide not to have a new pond, I am sure that the koi club can assist you with selling the koi at top dollar. Unfortunately, learning how to take care of the fish comes over time and the new homeowner may not have the patience.
Leolindad, I enjoyed reading your blog and not to mention viewing the incredible pictures you uploaded as well. What an awesome way to start your day. To have those amazing scenes/images in front of you during the day, you must stay in a positive mood constantly. You're so lucky.

Tracy, I have a very lush backyard thanks to my husband's green thumb. We need to look at the positives in life to drown out the negatives. Thank you for your comments and come back again soon.
45+. Holey moley, I have never heard of such a thing! How interesting.
