In two days the new law will be in effect. Don't wait until January 1, 2009. Which one you ask, the license plate law - A.R.S. 28-2354(B) The new law requires that all vehicles traveling on Arizona roads MUST clearly display the state in which the car is licensed in.
I was showing property yesterday and saw at least 1/3 of the cars on the road had the state covered. It is unfortunate that many license plate holders cover the name of the state. I saw alumni license plate holders, sports oriented license plate holders, dealership license plate holders, 800 numbers license plate holders and even the ones that say I love XXXX.
The fine is $130. Remember that you can have a license plate holder however it cannot obstruct the name of the licensee state.

Dispite this and what I am sure the many public tv and radio announcements, day one there will be fines given.......CRAZY.
This is good to know. I thought all states had this law. My home state of Texas does, but I don't think its really enforced to strictly.

You just caused me to run outside and check my plates. I travel from Mesquite NV to St George Utah very frequently - which is pretty much a trip through Arizona. My Realtor plate holder covers the very top of the word Nevada - but it is very readable. Hope I am OK, would hate to take it off.
