Well, I've seen it all now. I thought a bottle tree was interesting, but this is the first time I've seen a coffee cup plant!
LeoLinda—OK, I'll bite... is this something that's done for a purpose other than to be a funny remark. Either way, it's very cool as it makes me smile. Human beings do very funny things!
Ron, It is really cool to see everytiime it gets cold here.
Linda, I had similar thoughts when I was trying to select the title. Putting the cup on the top keeps the crown from freezing. If the crown does not freeze, the cactus will have a beautiful bloom in the spring.
Hi Leolinda...It took me a second to come up with the reason for the cups. If it works, that's great.
Kate
Hi Kate, Good to see you back again. The cups truly protects the tips which is where the new blossoms bloom from. The cacti looks gorgeous during the spring blooming.
Leolinda, isn't it funny how we have to protect our plants/cacti here in Arizona. Before I moved here over 12 years ago, I had no idea there were freezing temperatures in the desert, ha, ha.
Troy, the first time I saw the cups on a cactus the homeowner had the cups painted with faces. I thought it was a late Halloween prank.
